Dr. Fatima Rehan Dar

Dr Fatima Rehan Dar is a senior educational professional with more than 26 years of hard core national and international experience in academia and the developmental sector. Dr. Fatima Dar has a PhD in Education from the School of Education and Cognitive Sciences, Asia e University, Malaysia. She also has an MA in Curriculum and Teaching from Teachers College, Columbia University (USA) and an MA in English Language and Literature from Government College University, Lahore. Her areas of work include educational reforms, curriculum and teacher development, professional trainings and research. At present she is the CEO of Oak Consulting which provides consultancy services in the fields of teacher development and research, curriculum and materials development, educational reforms, monitoring and evaluation, corporate leadership, people’s management skills, and language development.
Dr Dar carries a rich experience in educational management. She has worked as Director, Centre for Teaching Excellence and Learning Innovation (CTELI) for Iqra University, Karachi and then Director, Institute for Global Cooperation and Outreach (IGCO) for the same university. In her capacity as Director, CTELI and IGCO she has been responsible for professional development of university faculty, ushering in innovative trends in higher education curriculum, creating academic linkages at national and international academic forums, and looking after English and foreign language programs. She has also served as Head of Monitoring and Evaluation for Sindh Capacity Development Program, a project supported by USAID. Her role was to monitor and evaluate the educational interventions done by USAID with the support of Sindh School and Literacy Department in seven major districts of Sindh province. She also worked as Head of Education Department at Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST), Karachi where she looked after the MS and PhD programs in Educational Leadership and Management.
Dr. Fatima Dar has served as a Teacher Educator and faculty with various other organizations including Ali Institute of Education, Lahore, Aga Khan University, Karachi, Beaconhouse National University, Lahore, Virtual University, Lahore, and Institute of Business Management (IoBM), Karachi and. She has also worked in the capacity of Lead Education Consultant/Advisor for the development sector that includes organizations like Society for the Advancement of Education (SAHE), ESRA-USAID, Adam-Smith International, Mckinsey, DFID and World Bank. She has also worked on a number of teacher development, curriculum and materials development projects all over Pakistan. She is also an advisory member of curriculum committees, various education and editorial boards.
Dr Dar also shares an international profile. She has had the honour of winning the Charles Wallace Trust visiting fellowship for the year 2000 to the Institute of Education, University of London. She has also been a visiting faculty at the Institute of Education, University of London and University of Warwick (UK). She has also presented papers on aspects of teacher education, curriculum development and English Education both nationally and internationally. Her publications, both national and international, also discuss the current issues and aspects related to the field of English language education and curriculum & teacher development.
