Mr. Sami Khan

Sami 27 years of professional training and experience in public policy development and implementation at the national, sub-national and district levels with major exposure in the education sector. He has worked in education since 2004 in all the provinces, ex FATA and Gilgit-Baltistan. The work includes support to development of the National Education Policy 2009, education sector plans of Balochistan, Punjab, ex FATA and Gilgit Baltistan. Worked in Khyberpakhtunkhwa as Governance Advisor to KP Education Sector Programme wherein prepared proposals for revamping of the Provincial Institute of Teacher Education (PITE) and Bureau of Curriculum. In Sindh worked as Chief of Party of Sindh Capacity Development Programme ‘and among others helped prepared PPP Toolkit for the education department of the provincial government and work on M&E strategy of the education department. Recently completed a third party validation of the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) as the largest PPP programme in education in Pakistan as part of an assignment of the Punjab Education Sector Program. Sami is currently working on “Technology for Teaching” study for the World Bank on behalf of Adam Smith International and is also engaged in a long term assignment with UNICEF to assist in implementation of the Balochistan and KP education sector plans. His research work includes a study on teachers called “Voice for Teachers” and “ Who Gets the Best Jobs” , an assessment of correlation between job outcomes and type of school attended.
